Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing or using PiiBlocker, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension and discontinue use. These terms apply to all versions of the extension, including free and Pro tiers.

2. Description of Service

PiiBlocker is a browser extension that detects and masks personally identifiable information (PII) before it is sent to AI chat platforms. All detection, masking, and unmasking logic runs entirely within your browser. No prompt content or personal data is transmitted to our servers at any point.

3. No Warranty

PiiBlocker is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that all PII will be detected, or that masking will be 100% effective in every situation. You are responsible for reviewing the masking dialog before submitting any prompt and for taking additional precautions when handling sensitive data.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PiiBlock and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of - or inability to use - PiiBlocker. This includes, but is not limited to, any unintended disclosure of personal data that the extension failed to detect or mask. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the extension is to uninstall it.

5. Data Handling

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. All data processed by PiiBlocker stays on your device. For complete details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable Use

When using PiiBlocker, you agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the extension except as permitted by applicable law
  • Use the extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any third-party rights
  • Redistribute, resell, or republish the extension outside of official channels (e.g., the Chrome Web Store)
  • Attempt to circumvent or disable any security or access controls within the extension

7. Intellectual Property

PiiBlocker, including its code, design, documentation, and branding, is the intellectual property of PiiBlock. These terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the extension. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the extension in accordance with these terms.

Bug reports, feature requests, and feedback submitted through GitHub, email, or other channels may be used by PiiBlock to improve the extension without obligation or compensation.

8. Third-Party Platforms

PiiBlocker operates on platforms owned and controlled by third parties, including Google Chrome, ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), and Gemini (Google). PiiBlock does not control these platforms and is not responsible for changes to their interfaces, APIs, or policies that may affect the extension's functionality.

PiiBlock does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the extension. Your use of third-party AI platforms is subject to those platforms' own terms of service and privacy policies.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PiiBlock and its contributors from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the extension, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law or regulation.

PiiBlocker is a privacy tool, not a compliance solution. Use of the extension does not guarantee regulatory compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, or any other data protection framework. You are responsible for ensuring your own compliance with applicable laws.

10. Termination

You may stop using PiiBlocker at any time by uninstalling the extension. All locally stored data is removed upon uninstallation.

PiiBlock reserves the right to discontinue the extension at any time. In the event of discontinuation, we will provide reasonable notice through the Chrome Web Store listing and our website where practicable.

11. Modifications

We may update the extension and these terms at any time. Changes to the extension will be delivered through the Chrome Web Store's auto-update mechanism. Updated terms will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Your continued use of PiiBlocker after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes through the Chrome Web Store update notes or on our website.

12. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction of residence.

For users in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

For users in the United States, these terms are subject to applicable federal and state consumer protection laws, including the laws of your state of residence.

For users in all other jurisdictions, these terms are interpreted in accordance with your local laws to the extent they apply to your use of the extension.
